Actress Angelina Jolie has announced that "nothing else matters" to her except motherhood.
The 49-year-old Hollywood star is mother to six children - Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne - with ex-husband Brad Pitt. She insisted that taking care of her children was more important than anything else in her life.
During an appearance on "Good Morning America," Angelina talked about playing opera star Maria Callas in the new movie "Maria." She was asked if there was anything in her life that could compare to the late star's love of singing, and the actress replied, "My motherhood... It's my happiness. You can take everything else away from me ... Nothing else matters."
Maddox and Pax work in the film industry, while Vivienne recently helped her mother prepare for the Broadway show "The Outsiders." However, Angelina is adamant that neither of her children want to be in the spotlight.
"Right now, none of my kids want to stand in front of a camera. They're pretty private. Shiloh is extremely private. They weren't born with privacy, were they? So hopefully they'll be able to have it when they get older," Jolie explained.
Her comments came after she admitted that winning an Oscar for her role in the biopic would be a bonus. Angelina already has one Academy Award for her performance in the psychological thriller Girl, Interrupted. She describes it as "the experience of a lifetime" to star in Pablo Larraín's new film. Although the buzz around the US Academy Awards has been "very nice", she believes she has already received the "greatest gift" of making a film with an "extraordinary team of people" and anything else is a "dream".
Asked about the buzz surrounding the film, she told Best UK magazine:
"It means a lot that someone thinks you've done a good job. Yeah? It means everything to me.Things like that are exciting and very, very good. But I'm just so happy we were able to make this film. I'm honestly so happy. It really was an experience of a lifetime. I learned how to sing and embodied a woman that I respect. I was able to work with this extraordinary team of people. I feel like I've already received the greatest gift. Audiences seem to respond well to that. So everything else is a dream, but I'm already so grateful." | BGNES
