"In 1968 I saw Russian tanks on the streets of Prague, and I never want to see them again."
This is what Czech President Petr Fiala said during his meeting with Joe Biden at the White House, TVP World reported.
"In 1968, I was a little boy then, I saw Russian tanks on the streets of Prague. I don't want to see them again. That's why we must support Ukraine as long as possible," Fiala said in the Oval Office.
Biden stressed the importance of helping Ukraine and the potential consequences of a Russian victory.
"As the Czech Republic remembers, Russia will not stop with Ukraine. And if it doesn't stop with Ukraine, the impact on NATO will be significant," Biden said, again urging Congress to pass a package of measures to support Kiev.
The US leader thanked the Czech authorities for organizing the initiative to provide artillery missiles to Ukraine, as well as other actions by Prague in support of Ukraine. He also mentioned that 25 years earlier he had been one of the main advocates of the Czech Republic's accession to NATO and that it was "the best decision ever made."
"The United States must actively help Ukraine because we cannot allow Russia's aggressive policy to celebrate its success," Fiala stressed. / BGNES
