Austria's far-right Freedom Party is leading the vote count in the European Parliament (EP) elections, according to exit polls.
This is also the first case in which the party leads in elections, reported AFP.
The Freedom Party received 27% of the vote, ahead of the currently ruling conservative People's Party, which was tied for second place with the Social Democrats at around 23%.
The Greens, the junior party in the conservative-led governing coalition, get 10.5% and will lose one of their three MEPs, while the liberals of the New Austrian and Liberal Forum (NALF) will secure two MEPs compared to one today.
The Communist Party won with only 3% of the vote, still having a chance to enter the EP. | BGNES
