Bulgaria ranked second in wage growth in the EU for the quarter, beaten only by Croatia, the European statistical office Eurostat said.
Overall, hourly labour costs in the July-September period rose by 5.3% in the euro area and by 5.7% in the European Union.
The highest increases were recorded in Croatia (16.2%), Bulgaria (15.8%) and Hungary (15.4%).
Meanwhile, there was a 0.1% fall in employment of European citizens aged 20-64.
Employment fell in 14 EU Member States between July and September. Croatia was first with 1.3% and Bulgaria second with 1.1%. /BGNES
