Manchester United manager Eric ten Hag has admitted that the team is not ready for the start of the new season in the Premier League. The "Red Devils" welcome Fulham tonight at 22:00 Bulgarian time in the opening match of the first round of the championship.
United have been active in the transfer market and brought in four new players - defenders Lenny Yoro, Mathais de Ligt and Nusair Mazraoui, as well as striker Joshua Zirkzee - but according to Ten Hag, preparations have been disrupted by the late finish of Euro 2024 and the Copa America.
"There was no way we could work for 5-6 weeks with the team. It was complicated. We left with one squad for the USA tour, then we added the players who participated in Euro 2024 and the Copa America, and now we have new additions. From all this we have to let's put together a team. The team is not ready, but the championship is starting, other managers also have this problem," commented the Dutch specialist.
"We can't hide or run, we have to deal with the situation," he added.
Ten Hag has revealed that new signings De Ligt and Mazraowi will be in the squad for the clash with the Cottagers, with Harry Maguire in line for the clash. Rasmus Hoylund, Lenny Yoro, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are out with injuries. | BGNES
