"Until a comprehensive and lasting peace is established in Palestine, Turkey will not approve cooperation initiatives with Israel in NATO."
This was stated by Turkish President Recep Erdogan during the NATO summit in Washington, Anadolu Agency reported.
Erdogan said Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's reckless policies threaten the security of the entire region.
"At a time when the world community is taking to the streets to stop attacks on Palestinian civilians, it is unacceptable to continue providing military support to Israel," the Turkish president stressed.
He said it was important for responsible members of the international community to join efforts to achieve a two-state solution within the 1967 borders.
Regarding the situation in Ukraine, Erdogan noted:
"I openly expressed my opinion that under no circumstances should NATO be allowed to become a party to the war in Ukraine."
The head of state called on his allies to increase pressure on the Netanyahu administration to secure a ceasefire and deliver aid to Gaza.
Erdogan recalled that Turkey, along with South Africa, filed a complaint against Israel in The Hague and demanded that other countries also file a complaint against Israel's actions. | BGNES
