Erdogan and Orban chair the Council for Bilateral Strategic Cooperation

The President of Turkey will today visit the capital of Hungary, Budapest, at the invitation of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, the Turkish Directorate of Communications announced.

The two leaders will participate in the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council between Turkey and Hungary.

"At the Council meeting, which will be held in Budapest under the chairmanship of our President and the Prime Minister of Hungary, the relations between Turkey and Hungary at the level of strategic partnership will be reviewed in all their dimensions and the steps that can be taken to -further deepening of bilateral relations", the announcement also states.

The leaders will also exchange views on current regional and global issues, the Turkish presidency announced, adding that the signing of various agreements and the opening ceremony of the Turkey-Hungary Year of Culture are also planned.

The date of the visit coincides with the centenary of the Treaty of Friendship signed between the two countries on December 18, 1923, shortly after the founding of the Republic of Turkey.

During the visit, 16 documents in various fields are expected to be signed./BGNES
