Тoday, the last two matches in groups C and D of the European Football Championship will be played in Germany. From 19:00 are the matches in group D - France - Poland and the Netherlands - Austria, and from 22:00 the clashes in group C - Denmark - Serbia and England - Slovenia start.
England, who are one of the favorites for the trophy, lead their group with four points after a narrow win over Serbia and a draw with Denmark in their opening two matches. Gareth Southgate's team have not impressed so far with their performances, but they will try to do so against the Slovenians before a possible participation in the eliminations. The Three Lions will be at least third in their group, progressing as one of the best third-placed teams if Albania do not beat Spain in Group B. A place in the last 16 will be reached if Southgate and Co. do not lose to Slovenia and Denmark did not beat Serbia. The English will win their group if they succeed against the Slovenians - a draw will also suit them if the Danes are stopped by the Serbs.
"Red Dynamite", together with Slovenia, have two points each, while our western neighbors have 1 point. A win over Serbia sends Denmark into the round of 16. Kasper Hülmand's men will not skip the group stage if they lose to the Serbs and Slovenia are not beaten by England. As was the case with the Danes, success for Serbia and Slovenia would send them into the knockout phase of Euro 2024.
In the other group, France need a point to guarantee a place in the round of 16. The Roosters, champions of the tournament in 1984 and 2000, will be among the first two teams to qualify directly for the next phase if they do not lose to Poland and Austria do not beat the Netherlands. The first place will be guaranteed for Didier Deschamps and company with success and a shoot of the "tulips". The two teams drew 0-0 in the previous round of the group stage, winning their first meetings against Austria and Poland.
Ronald Koeman's Netherlands must avoid defeat against Austria to progress to the last 16. The team will finish in first place if they win their match against the Austrians and France do not beat Poland, or if they draw and the French lose to Druzhina Polska. Poland have already been eliminated from further participation and will be playing for their honor against one of the favorites for the trophy. Austria, led by Ralf Rangnick, still have a chance and will advance if they beat the Netherlands. The team is in a good starting position to be among the four best third teams.
