Embiid erupts for 70 points in Philadelphia's win over San Antonio

The Philadelphia 76ers beat the San Antonio Spurs 133:123 at home in another regular season game of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The match will be remembered for the historic achievement of the number 1 favorite for the award of the Most Valuable Player of the season Joel Embiid. The Cameroon center exploded for 70 points on 24/41 shooting from the field. He also added 18 rebounds, half of them on offense, as well as five assists, going nearly flawless from the free throw line - 21/23. For Embiid, it's a personal and club record, surpassing the great Wilt Chamberlain's 68 on December 16, 1967.

The reigning MVP scored more than any other Philly player combined, combining for 63 points, with Tyrese Maxey scoring 18 and Tobias Harris adding 14.

For the Texans, first-round pick Victor Wembanyama finished with 33 points. Devin Vassell added 22 points, Jeremy Sochan and Doug McDermott scored 14 and 13, respectively, and Julian Champagnie and Tre Jones scored 12 points each.

After its sixth straight victory, Philadelphia is in third place in the East with a record of 29-13, while San Antonio is last in the West with just eight wins and as many as 35 losses. Philly visits the Indiana Pacers next, while the Spurs host the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In another game, Karl-Anthony Towns also had a great individual performance, finishing with 62 points, but his Minnesota Timberwolves team lost at home to the Charlotte Hornets 125:128.
