Elizabeth Banks almost choked to death during filming

The 50-year-old Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect actress was filming Skincare when she had her "first choking accident" while alone in her trailer during a break from filming.

She told Good Morning America that the "horrific" ordeal happened when she was enjoying her lunch when a "little green pea" got lodged in her throat.

Elizabeth added: "I opened the door - I couldn't make a sound, I was so scared. It was terrifying."

She was spotted by a team member who approached and asked her: "Are you choking?" before she could scream "Yes", prompting him to "very calmly" give her the Heimlich.
Elizabeth adds: "He had to do it twice. His name is Julius. He is my guardian angel. Julius, I love you."

She said that after he "saved her life," she wants to use her platform to encourage people to learn to do the Heimlich.

Elizabeth continued, "Make sure you know how to do it. Talk to your friends and
your family for it".

The first aid technique involves applying pressure to the choking victim's abdomen to dislodge the object that is blocking their airway.

Elizabeth added that the world is full of misconceptions about the method, including fears that you might break people's ribs.

She said: "They're dying, so break a rib if you have to. I could have done it with a cracked rib. I literally couldn't breathe and it was super scary." | BGNES
