We will support political discussions to ensure the abolition of land border crossings for Bulgaria and Romania by the end of this year.
This is what European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič told MEPs in Strasbourg, where the priorities of the Belgian presidency are being discussed, reports BGNES.
The decision must be taken by the Council of the EU, he pointed out.
Šefčovič stressed that the EC is helping both countries through pilot projects and Frontex to strengthen the external borders.
