Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo Gonzalez- Urrutia said his son-in-law Rafael Tudares was kidnapped in Venezuela's capital, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
The opposition leader, who claims to have defeated Nicolas Maduro in July's presidential election, said Tudares was kidnapped while taking his two children to school in Caracas.
Gonzalez-Hurutia said in an X publication that "hooded men dressed in black" ran over the vehicle and loaded Tudares "into a gold-colored van."
The opposition leader provided no further details, including the condition of his 6- and 7-year-old grandchildren.
Gonzalez-Urutia, a retired diplomat, represented the main opposition coalition in Venezuela's July presidential election, which both he and Maduro claim to have won.
The opposition leader is in the midst of a tour of the Americas to try to rally support for his efforts to oust Maduro. On 6 January, he met with US President Joe Biden at the White House. | BGNES
