Djokovic will not play in the ATP Finals in Turin

Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the final Masters last-eight event to be held in Turin between November 10-17. He himself announced this on social networks. The Joker is a seven-time champion of the competition, announcing that the decision was due to injury.

"I was really looking forward to being there, but due to an ongoing injury I won't be playing next week. I apologize to everyone who planned to see me there. I wish all the players a great tournament. See you soon!", the Serbian wrote on Instagram story .

Djokovic has 37 wins and 9 losses this season, winning Olympic gold in Paris this summer. In doing so, he completed a career Golden Slam, winning title number 99 of his professional career. The 37-year-old defeated world No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the final in Turin last year. His first triumph came in 2008 when the tournament was known as the Tennis Masters Cup.

The news also confirmed the eight who will travel to Turin. Home favorite Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev and Taylor Fritz have already booked their ticket to the Italian city, and they are joined by Casper Ruud, Alex de Minaur and Andrey Rublev. Bulgaria's first rocket Grigor Dimitrov is one of the two reserves along with Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas. Grigor lost chances of direct qualification after losing to Karen Khachanov in the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters last week and, with Djokovic out of the reckoning, he must rely on another of the eight for Turin not to travel to the Italian city. | BGNES
