Djokovic: This could have been my last Australian Open

Former world number 1 Novak Djokovic admitted that he may have played his last match at the Australian Open. The 10-time champion withdrew due to injury after the first set of his semi-final match with Alexander Zverev.

"I don't know if this is my last Australian Open, it could be. Who knows? I have to see how the season goes. I want to keep playing, but I don't know if I will shorten the calendar next season. I love coming to Australia, this is where I achieved my greatest successes. If I am healthy and motivated, I see no reason not to come again. But there is always a chance," Djokovic commented after the defeat.

He admitted that it is not clear whether his partnership with Andy Murray will continue after the end of the tournament. "I don't know, we're both disappointed with what happened. We haven't talked about future plans. After we calm down, I'll talk to Andy and thank him for being there for me and we'll both decide what the next steps are," he explained.

Due to his early withdrawal, Djokovic was booed by the Rod Laver Arena crowd, despite being a ten-time champion in Melbourne. This prompted his opponent Alexander Zverev to call on the crowd not to boo the Serb. | BGNES
