"My love for the sport is strong and my desire to play at the highest level keeps me going."
This was announced by Novak Djokovic after undergoing knee surgery in Paris yesterday.
The Serbian tennis player suffered a partial meniscus tear during his victory over Francisco Cerundolo in the round of 16 at Roland Garros, an injury that will also rule him out of Wimbledon, but his hope is to be ready for the Paris Olympics.
"Yesterday I had to make some tough decisions after tearing my meniscus during my last match. I'm still coming to terms with what happened but I'm happy to say the surgery was a success. Thanks to the team of doctors who were there for me, as well as the incredible support from my fans. I will do my best to get back on the court as soon as possible," Djokovic wrote on social media.
From Monday, Djokovic will be displaced from the first place in the world ranking by the Italian Yannick Siner. | BGNES
