Grigor Dimitrov starts his campaign in the ATP 500 tennis tournament in Vienna. Bulgaria’s top male tennis player has a match against world number 22 Lorenzo Musetti not before 20:00 pm this evening. The match from the first round of the tournament in the Austrian capital is last on Central court.
Musetti played six matches in China where he reached semifinals in Chengdu – in Beijing he won against Karen Khachanov and then lost in the second round to Carlos Alcaraz.
Grigor played better – he had twice as more matches in China’s three tournaments. The Bulgarian, 32, reached semifinals in Chengdu and Shanghai, and a quarterfinal in Beijing.
Dimitrov and Musetti have played only once in official competitions. They met in the quarterfinals in Acapulco in 2021, when the Italian player won 6-4, 7-6 (3). The winner from their match will meet in the 1/8-finals either number one seed and reigning champion Daniil Medvedev or Arthur Fils from France. /BGNES
