Dimitrov overcomes Sonego at the start in Rotterdam

Grigor Dimitrov qualified for the round of 16 of the tennis tournament in Rotterdam after defeating Lorenzo Sonego of Italy 7-6 (4), 6-3. The match lasted a little over an hour and a half.

It started strongly for Bulgaria's best tennis player, who broke the opponent's opening service game. Gradually, however, Sonego recovered and regained the break. It came down to a tiebreak after the dominance of the servers. In it, Grigor twice lost a lead of two points, but eventually broke Sonego's resistance for the final 7-4.

In the second set, the two missed two break points each before it came to the eighth game, in which Dimitrov made a decisive break before successfully serving for a place in the next stage of the competition. He went 39/39 without dropping a first serve point throughout the match, and saved three of four break points against Sonego. Grigor made 24 winners and only six unforced errors.

In a dispute for a place in the quarterfinals in the Dutch city, Bulgaria's first racket will face the Hungarian Marton Fucsovics. The two have a total of four matches between them, with the balance being 2-2. Dimitrov played the Hungarian earlier in the year at the Australian Open wheere he won in four sets. /BGNES
