Grigor Dimitrov advanced to the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 series tennis tournament in Rotterdam after overcoming Marton Fucsovics 6-3, 7-5. The match lasted nearly an hour and a half.
The sixth-ranked Bulgarian had to save two break points at the beginning of the match, but he managed it and it gave him confidence until the end of the opening set. A break in the eighth game was decisive and gave Bulgaria's best tennis player the lead. In the second set, Grigor had to overcome a critical moment in the tenth game, in which he had to save a set point for the 86th-ranked Hungarian in the world. Fucsovics lost his serve after that and Dimitrov closed things out in the next game.
After winning his opening match in the Dutch city with a 100% success rate on first serve points, today Bulgaria's first racket again finished with a very high percentage of 85. He saved all three break points, finishing with 20 winners and 8 unforced errors. The 32-year-old from Haskovo now leads the head-to-head matches with Fucsovics 3-2 - earlier in the year he beat him at the Australian Open.
In contention for a place in a third semi-final since the start of the season after those in Brisbane and Marseille, Dimitrov awaits the winner of the match between Alexander Shevchenko (Kazakhstan) and third seed Holger Rune. /BGNES
