Grigor Dimitrov will face Daniil Medvedev this afternoon in a match from the 1/8-finals of the ATP 500 tennis tournament in Vienna. The match between the Bulgarian and the reigning champion will start not before 15:00 pm.
It is the second game in Central court’s daily schedule. Before that Matteo Arnaldi from Italy plays third seeded Andrey Rublev.
Grigor reached the second round in the Austrian capital after defeating the 22nd in the world rankings Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets. Medvedev, who is number one seed, won convincingly his match with Arthur Fils.
Dimitrov and Medvedev have seven matches between them – the Russian leading 5-2 in their official meetings. He won their last two encounters, including last year’s semifinals in Vienna, when he eventually won the title. Last time Grigor won against Medvedev was at Indian Wells back in 2021. If he manages to beat the Russian, the 32-year-old Bulgarian will face another Russian in the quarterfinals – Karen Khachanov, eight seeded. /BGNES
