Dead and injured after a shooting at a university in Prague, police have cordoned off the area, Czech media reported.
"The shooter died, it's a good result from the point of view of the tragedy, but we will have to analyze the whole thing and then we will have to inform the public," Prague Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda said. The police also confirmed that they neutralized him.
"We have always thought that this is not a European problem, but unfortunately it turns out that our world is changing," he added.
Prime Minister Peter Fiala canceled his work program and asked residents to follow police advice. "We are currently intervening in Jan Palah Square in connection with the reported shooting at a university. All parts are going to the place," the police wrote on social networks. "According to initial information, we can confirm that there are dead and injured on the spot," she added.
Police cordoned off the area around the building on Jan Palah Square. The movement of trams in the center is limited, the lines are diverted along alternative routes.Rescuers are on the scene, the number of injured is not yet clear. “I guess there are more injured. Ambulances and doctors are on the scene," said the spokeswoman for the rescue teams, Yana Postova.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Vit Rakushan, is heading to the place. He said there was no second shooter. /BGNES
