Alex de Minaur continues his successful title defense at the strong tennis tournament in Acapulco. The Australian beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarter-finals of the competition - 1-6, 6-3, 6-3, in about two hours and ten minutes of play.
The defending champion started with an early break, but then dropped the next six games, thus leading to the loss of the set. The second set was ebb and flow, with De Minaur breaking twice and losing his advantage before breaking again and never looking back. In the decisive third set, Tsitsipas missed a break point in the fourth game and was broken immediately afterwards. De Minaur made another break before the end of the set for the final victory.
Both tennis players did not play a strong match on their own serve, as a total of 11 breaks were made. Tsitsipas finished with a total of 8 double faults, making more winners than his opponent - 17 to 13, but also more unforced errors than De Minaur - 21 to 14. In contention for a place in the final, last year's champion will play Jack Draper of Great Britain, who gave only four games to Miomir Kecmanovic.
In the other semi-final, there is a Scandinavian clash. It came after second-seeded Holger Rune overcame Dominik Koepfer after two tiebreaks and Casper Ruud upset American Ben Shelton 6-7 (7), 6-4, 6-4. /BGNES
