After the end of the match, Uruguay striker Darwin Nunes jumped over the fences of the stands and flew to fight with Colombian fans. According to El País, the incident happened near where the relatives of the Uruguay players were standing. "We were trying to protect our families," announced team captain Jose Maria Jimenez. Other players were also caught on cameras in the stands at North Carolina Stadium.
Shortly before that, there was tension between the players and the staffs of the two teams after the final whistle.
