China has supplied weapons to Russia for use against Ukraine for the first time, and the EU is now considering sanctions.
As the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" writes, citing its sources, the relevant intelligence was provided to the EU countries by the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell. A senior EU diplomat said the evidence was "compelling" and confirmed the "delivery of lethal aid".
"Now we have to consider all possible measures," the diplomat said. However, he added that it was important to speak directly to China.
Another source noted that Europe's reaction will depend on how China reacts to this information. The discussion of the sanctions is already at an early stage, the interlocutors of the publication add.
At the same time, although the sources did not reveal details of the intelligence data, the top diplomat referred to "very serious" reports.
The UNIAN agency recalls reports in Western media that Russia has launched a weapons program in China to develop and produce long-range attack drones for use in the war against Ukraine.
