French referee Clement Turpin will referee this year's European Championship opener between Germany and Scotland in Munich, UEFA announced on its official website.
The 42-year-old referee has overseen five matches at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, including Brazil's win over South Korea in the round of 16 in Qatar.
He was a referee at four matches from the group stage of Euro 2016 and the tournament postponed due to the coronavirus in 2021.
Two years ago Turpin refereed the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool in Paris, and this season he officiated the first semi-final in the 2:2 draw between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
In the meantime, it became clear that the "Allianz Arena" will be illuminated in the colors of the rainbow on June 22 and 23 on the occasion of the upcoming pride in the city. | BGNES
