China has completely lifted trade suspensions targeting Australian red meat, Canberra reports.
With the move, Beijing has removed one of the last barriers in a four-year trade dispute that has affected $13 billion in exports.
A number of Australia's most lucrative export commodities have been effectively banned from Chinese exports since 2020, AFP reported.
But as relations have improved over the past two years, Beijing has lowered tariffs on Australian barley and wine, suspended a ban on timber imports and resumed coal shipments.
Last to go were barriers targeting red meat and lobster.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said China had paved the way for a "full resumption of red meat exports".
Full lobster trade is expected to resume by the end of the year, the Australian government announced in October.
"We're close to the point where all of China's trade barriers - which affected A$20 billion (US$13 billion) worth of Australian exports - have been removed," Trade Minister Don Farrell said. | BGNES
