Chelsea are through to the Carabao Cup final after a 6-1 win at home to Middlesbrough. The Blues overcame a 0-1 deficit from the first leg against the 11th in the Championship and the goal show began a quarter of an hour after the first whistle at Stamford Bridge.
Jonathan Howson scored an own goal to give Chelsea the lead. In the 30th minute, the "blues" were already leading 2:0 with a goal by Enzo Fernandez, who pounced on the bounced ball in the penalty area. Just six later, the difference between the two teams became three goals. Raheem Sterling brought on Axel Dizazi and he scored.
By the end of the half, the Londoners delighted their fans with another goal. It was scored by Cole Palmer in the 44th minute after a mistake by the opponent's defense.
A quarter of an hour before the end, Palmer scored his second goal of the match after a pass from Conor Gallagher. A few minutes later, Gallagher also found Chukwunonso Madueke in the penalty area, and he made it 6-0.
A goal for Middlesbrough in the 83rd minute, Matt Crooks' effort was disallowed for offside. Five minutes later, however, Morgan Rogers shot from the edge of the penalty area, it bounced off the post and into the home team's goal for the final 6:1.
Kick-off at 22:00 is the other semi-final second leg between Fulham and Liverpool. The Merseysiders have a 2:1 lead after the first meeting. The final is on February 25. /BGNES
