The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced that an agreement had been reached for 50 billion euros of EU aid to Ukraine, the Guardian reported.
"All 27 leaders agreed to provide the additional package of €50 billion to support Ukraine within the EU budget," Michel wrote on his X profile.
He added: "This provides stable, long-term and predictable funding for Ukraine. The EU takes a leading role and responsibility in supporting Ukraine. We know what is at stake."
The agreement comes after the bloc's most influential politicians sat down this morning with Hungarian President Viktor Orbán.
Orbán vetoed the deal at the summit in December and efforts are underway to win him over to their side.
Michel's announcement proved that the leaders had succeeded in persuading the Hungarian leader. /BGNES
