"We seek investment and cooperation with the Western Balkans. We expect more reforms from them, especially in the judiciary," European Council President Charles Michel said at the EU-Western Balkans summit.
Michel drew attention to the importance of the summit.
"Today is an important meeting with our partners from the Western Balkans. We will reiterate our commitment to these countries becoming members. We expect more reforms from them, especially in the judiciary. We have also prepared for the challenges ahead.
"Our ambition for enlargement is by 2030. The goal today is to motivate and give support to countries for reforms on the path to membership," he added.
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borel also commented on the importance and objectives of the meeting.
"Enlargement must be accelerated, it is the most important guarantor of security. This would strengthen the countries' connectivity with the Union. Enlargement, overlap with EU foreign policy and security, these are the main objectives of the summit. Enlargement is most important for foreign policy," he said. / BGNES
