Carlos Alcaraz vs Novak Djokovic in a repeat of last year's Wimbledon final

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic will decide the 2024 Wimbledon champion today. The match is a repeat of last year's title clash, which the Spaniard won. The match starts at 16:00 Bulgarian time.

Alcaraz, 21, will be looking to defend his trophy and win a fourth Grand Slam. At the same time, Djokovic hopes to avenge his defeat to the same opponent in 2023. If successful, he will equal Roger Federer's record of 8 triumphs in London.

In the 1/2-finals, Alcaraz defeated Daniil Medvedev 6-7 (1), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Novak Djokovic did not encounter any particular difficulties against the debutant of this phase, Lorenzo Musetti. The Serbian beat the Italian 6-4, 7-6 (2), 6-4 to reach his 10th anniversary Wimbledon final.

In addition, Djokovic could become the tennis player with the most Grand Slam titles won, as he currently shares the first place with Margaret Court, who also has 24 trophies won in the most prestigious tennis competition. For this purpose, however, he will have to outplay his 16-year-younger rival, with whom they have always had extremely contested battles.

Djokovic holds a 3-2 advantage in head-to-head meetings between the two, but Alcaraz is the player in the best current form, considering his Roland Garros title win, and Carlitos undoubtedly had a tougher road to the final and came through with a number of tough rivals from the ranks of Frances Tiafoe, Ugo Humbert, Tommy Paul and Daniil Medvedev.

The Serbian has also started to hit the ground running and the knee has not bothered him in any way, allowing him to go through all the rounds with only one set lost during his last two meetings with young talents Holger Rune and Lorenzo Musetti. | BGNES
