"The West must once again prove the need for NATO, as Europe faces the same situation as in 1938."
This was stated by British Foreign Minister David Cameron, The Independent reported.
"What we face today is as simple as it was in 1938. We have a tyrant in Europe who is trying to redraw the borders by force, and we have two choices. You can accept this approach or you can resist of that approach," Cameron said.
His comments echo those of British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps, who said in January that the UK was facing a "pre-war world".
"At its core, the greatness of NATO is that it allows countries to choose their own future," stressed the British top diplomat.
"I think this is an incredibly strong, value-based argument that the younger generation can understand and see," he added./BGNES
