According to the Guardian, Britain will deliver additional $37.38 million in humanitarian aid to Gaza on the second day of Foreign Secretary David Cameron's visit to the occupied Palestinian territory.
Cameron will meet with Palestinian leaders and relief organizations.
On November 23, he met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which he expressed hope that the cease-fire with Hamas would be "a crucial opportunity to get the hostages out and aid to Gaza."
In a statement issued on November 24, he stated:
"We hope that the hostages will be released today, and I urge all parties to continue to work for the release of every hostage." The cutoff will also allow life-saving supplies to reach the Gazan people.
I am proud to report that a fourth UK flight delivering important supplies arrived in Egypt today, and I am pleased to announce £30 million in extra money, which will be spent on critical help such as shelter and medical equipment.
We must safeguard the civilian population, and we are quickly investigating all alternatives for sending supplies to Gaza, including land, sea, and air approaches. The latest pledge would more than quadruple the amount of supplemental help Britain has sent to Gaza since the crisis began in October."/BGNES
