Some 61.6 million passengers passed through Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in 2024, an increase of around 3.7% compared to 2023.
Most of the airports in FRA's global network show positive results throughout 2024, with some achieving notable growth rates.
The two Bulgarian airports serving the coastal cities of Burgas (BOJ) and Varna (VAR) saw traffic decline by 8.7% in 2024, with total passenger numbers reaching 3.4 million. In December, combined traffic at BOJ and VAR fell by 13.6% to 78,206 passengers.
Fraport's fourteen Greek regional airports reached a new all-time high in passenger traffic for the full year 2024. The total number of passengers at the Greek gateways increased by 6.4% to around 36.0 million in the year under review. In December, Fraport's Greek airports recorded a total of 805,056 passengers, an increase of 6.7% year-on-year.
Germany's largest airport saw particularly strong demand for medium-haul flights to warm-weather destinations including Greece, Spain, Portugal and Italy.
In the long-haul market, routes to North America remained popular, while flights to the Far East and South America also saw dynamic growth.
