A Bulgarian-owned ship "Rouen" sailing under the Maltese flag was boarded today off the island of Socotra in Yemen. This was reported by the British maritime security company "Ambrey".
An Iranian-flagged fishing vessel in the area turned off its identification signal six hours before the incident near where the bulk carrier appeared to have gone off course, Ambri said.
The Iranian-flagged fishing vessel was previously in Somalia's offshore area.
The UK Maritime Merchant Operations Agency (UKMTO) also sent a message saying it had received a report of a distress call from a vessel boarded by unknown persons. The UKMTO map locates the incident near the Yemeni island of Socotra.
The ship Galaxy Leader is still in captivity of the Houthis along with the crew, which includes two Bulgarians. The vessel was attacked on November 19 and is currently anchored off the coast of a port in the Red Sea. The Houthis even turned it into a tourist attraction. /BGNES
