Bulgarian Football Union Head Mihailov: Next week I will calm down all the citizens

Next week I will calm down all the citizens. This was announced by the president of the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU), Borislav Mihailov, after several questions regarding his resignation from deputies during the parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sports, BGNES reports.

He added that on Monday, November 27, the extraordinary Executive Committee will be held, which was supposed to take place this week and at which it is expected that the headquarters' electoral Congress will be convened in the next year 2024. Mihailov arrived today around 16:00 for his hearing at the Sports Commission. The reason for his appointment in today's meeting was the request by former sports minister Krasen Kralev to clarify the reasons and the request to hold the European qualification with Hungary behind closed doors."I came here as a person who respects this institution. I have not come to make myself a sacrificial lamb. Apparently no one cares about facts. This long correspondence is interpreted differently by each or by all. Nobody wants the facts here, they want a victim, and the victim is clear. This is not a hearing, but an attack on me," Mihailov told the commission and continued:

"I am a scapegoat from some people who desperately want to become bosses in the football union. There are other people behind them who finance them and accordingly those who turned this peaceful protest into a violent one, and these are the hooligans. I am proud that we managed to save human lives despite all the pressure. The decision is not of the BFU, but of UEFA. It is not possible for someone to resign after every protest. BFS did not move or close the match. BFU is responsible for what happens in the stadium, but not outside it. Responsibility must be sought from the instigators and paid provocateurs. The BFU cannot become a scapegoat for someone planning a paid protest," the BFU president added, denying that there was any political pressure.

After leaving the hall, Mihailov refused to speak to the media. All eyes are already on Monday, when the Executive Committee is expected to be held at noon, at which a date will be set for an electoral Congress in 2024. /BGNES
