Bulgarian Caretaker Government PM Glavchev gives the "Mama and Me" Hospital to the prosecutor's office
Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev will file a report with the National Tax Service and the Prosecutor's Office in the case of "Mama and Me" Multispeciality Hospital for Active Treatment, reported BGNES.
The government press service informs that the report will be submitted to make a complete check of the facts and circumstances related to the granting of permission for the construction of the medical facility.
The Prime Minister's decision is in response to the broad public response related to the project.
BGNES recalls that the official cabinet first approved the establishment of the private hospital, and later cancelled its decision. Today, the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) confirmed that they have given two positive opinions.
The first opinion, a positive opinion, for the "Mama and I" Medical Center dated February 1, 2023. The document was signed by the acting manager of the National Health Center, Dr. Yordanka Penkova. On November 27, 2023, the NHIF sent to the Ministry of Health a second positive opinion about the future medical facility, which was signed by the manager Mr. Stanimir Mihailov.
On Thursday, the Ministry of Health made clarifications on the file of the "Mama and I" Medical Center that there were 3 complex evaluations prepared.
According to President Rumen Radev, the "Glavchev" cabinet, instead of advancing the National Children's Hospital project, "facilitates the transformation of a socially significant cause into a private one and the consolidation of the practice of healthcare working on the principle of profits, not for public benefit." Vice President Iliana Yotova also expressed her reservations, and the Danaya Foundation threatened to sue the state.
The leading political forces in the country called on the caretaker government of Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev to withdraw his idea of building the medical facility.
GERB political party stated that the project for the construction of the state national children's hospital was launched during their administration in 2020. "GERB has always supported and supports this project - for the construction of the state national children's hospital as a project of strategic importance for Bulgaria", stressed the party of Boyko Borisov.
The chairman of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Delyan Peevski called on the caretaker government to immediately cancel its decision on the private children's hospital
"Continuing the change-Democratic Bulgaria" stated that they were not surprised by the caretaker government's decision to establish a private children's hospital in the capital. According to them, the children's hospital and the health care of our children is a cause of great importance to the whole country and for years it has been delayed and entangled in a mix of populism and attempts to advance private interests.
We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (WCC-DB) will submit a report to the prosecutor's office and State Agency for National Security to check the conditions under which the permit was issued, as well as the analysis of the private hospital's disclosure needs, which was carried out. /BGNES
