Bulgaria and several other countries called on Hamas to accept Joe Biden's proposal for a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
This is according to a message published on the website of the White House.
The proposal was supported by the leaders of Austria, Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Canada, Colombia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, the United States, Serbia, Thailand and France.
"As leaders of countries deeply concerned about the hostages being held by Hamas in Gaza, including many of our own citizens, we fully support the movement towards a ceasefire and the hostage release agreement now on the table, and as outlined by President Biden on May 31, 2024. No time to lose. We call on Hamas to conclude this agreement, which Israel is ready to fulfill, and to begin the process of releasing our citizens," the leaders said in a joint statement.
