Bulgaria has opened its airspace for the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) meeting in North Macedonia. This was announced by Russia's Ambassador to Bulgaria Eleonora Mitrofanova to TASS.
OSCE meeting will take place in Skopje from 30 November to 1 December.
"We have received a positive response to our note on the passage of Lavrov's plane through Bulgarian airspace. The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry has officially informed us that the flight in the airspace of the country of our minister is allowed," Mitrofanova said.
Earlier today, an European Commission spokesman said Lavrov's flight would not violate European sanctions against Moscow.
A meeting between Lavrov and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is likely to take place in the Macedonian capital. /BGNES
