Catherine, Princess of Wales, said she was "in remission" from the cancer after she and her husband Prince William visited the specialist London hospital where she was being treated.
"It's reassuring that I am now in remission and remain focused on recovery," the princess wrote on Instagram alongside a photo from her visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital.
The couple thanked the staff and met patients at the specialist cancer centre, which operates at three locations in the capital.
"I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for looking after me so well over the past year," Catherine wrote on Instagram.
"A heartfelt thank you to all those who quietly walked alongside William and I as we navigated everything. We couldn't have asked for more. The care and advice we received during my time as a patient was exceptional," she added.
The visit took place at a time when Kensington Palace announced that the couple had become joint patrons of the hospital.
In this capacity, members of the Royal Family support over 3,000 organisations, such as charities and hospitals, by showcasing their work through visits.
"In my new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden, I hope that by supporting ground-breaking research and clinical excellence, and by promoting the wellbeing of patients and families, we will be able to save many more lives and transform the experiences of everyone affected by cancer," said the Princess.
The visit is said to have been "extremely moving" for Kate, who turned 43 last week.
The future queen, who is seen as key to maintaining the royal family's position in modern Britain, revealed last March that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. | BGNES, AFP
