Bridget Jones returns in new film of the popular series

Hollywood star Renee Zellweger will mark the return of Bridget Jones - the chardonnay-drinking, calorie-counting unhappy single woman of the 1990s - at the world premiere of the upcoming film in the franchise, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy.

The red carpet presentation, which will take place in London, the site of Bridget Jones' biggest disasters, will also be attended by 28-year-old rising star Leo Woodall, who plays her latest and youngest romantic interest.

Texas actress Zellweger is known for putting on a few pounds and successfully cultivating a British accent to play the role of Bridget alongside Hugh Grant and Colin Firth in the original 2001 hit, Bridget Jones's Diary.

In the latest instalment, Bridget - now a 51-year-old widow and single parent - goes through new hardships as she struggles with text messages, tweets, dating apps and Botox following the death of her husband Mark Darcy.

The fourth and final installment of the series, which will be released in theaters on February 14, comes nearly a decade after the previous one, Bridget Jones's Baby.

In that film, Bridget finds herself pregnant and unsure who the father is after affairs with a handsome American internet billionaire, played by Patrick Dempsey, and her ex Mark Darcy, played by Firth, whom she eventually marries. | BGNES
