Boston Holds Off Minnesota for Fifth Consecutive Win

 

The Boston Celtics recorded their fifth consecutive NBA victory after beating the Minnesota Timberwolves 107-105 at home tonight. The visitors managed to almost completely make up for a 19-point deficit, but in the end the champions held off the pressure from their opponents.

The game started off strong for the hosts, after Jaylen Brown hit five consecutive three-pointers in less than four minutes for Boston's opening 15 points. The Timberwolves then went on a strong run, leading late in the first half, but after the break Boston took control of the game and pulled ahead by 19 points midway through the third quarter. Minnesota didn't give up and came within two points of tying the game shortly before the end, but in the end the Celtics won.

Brown finished with 29 points (7 three-pointers), Jayson Tatum had 26 points and 8 rebounds, and Derrick White had 19 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. For Minnesota, center Rudy Gobert grabbed 20 rebounds, Anthony Edwards scored 28 points and added 9 rebounds and 7 assists, while Julius Randle finished with 23 points.

Boston is second in the Eastern Conference with 14 wins and 3 losses, while Minnesota is 11th in the West with an 8/8 record.
