"It is necessary to explain to European citizens before the parliamentary elections in June what it would mean if Ukraine were defeated and the Russian army moved to the borders of the EU."
This was stated by the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell. The reason for his speech was the concern that the upcoming elections for the European Parliament could bring strong results to far-right parties that do not agree with the delivery of aid to Ukraine, The Independent reported.
"Russia will use all possible forces. Putin has no intention of backing down. His political survival depends on this," Borrell said.
The EU's top diplomat pointed out that some people in the bloc do not believe in helping Ukraine against Russian aggression and say that Kiev should give up in order to achieve peace as soon as possible.
"Do you think that if Russia installs a puppet regime in Ukraine, like the one they have in Belarus, and Russian troops are on the Polish border, do you think we're going to get out of trouble, or we're going to have bigger problems?" Borrell asked.
He also warned of other consequences of the eventual defeat of Ukraine.
"With Ukraine in his hands, Putin will control 35% of all world wheat markets," said the head of European diplomacy.
"Putin will throw himself at anything and has nothing against sacrificing his army and people, as he is suffering huge material and human losses and has not achieved significant territorial progress," he added./BGNES
