Boris Johnson: Ukraine should join NATO

"Ukraine should join NATO".
This was stated by former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. He added that Kiev should be presented with the appropriate tools to fight against Russia. His statement came during the Strong and Free Networks Conference in Canada, The Independent reported.
"Ukraine has chosen to be a free, independent European nation oriented to the West, to the EU, to NATO. And Ukraine must join NATO. This is the only logical way out of the situation," said the former prime minister.
He said that fears that such a move would provoke Putin could not prevent action.
"NATO is the body that gives security and stability and will bring peace. But in the meantime, give the Ukrainians what they need," Johnson said.
He described Ukraine as a "terrible fighting force" and said it was often supplied with "the right things at the wrong time, in other words, too late".
"Ukrainians will get the job done if we give them the tools. Let's give them the tools. They have shown that they are a proud, independent nation and they will fight for freedom. What we need to do is continue to support Ukraine, continue to support freedom," emphasized the former prime minister.
Johnson warned Donald Trump, who hopes to return to the White House after November's US election, against a reported plan to pressure Ukraine to cede Crimea and the border region of Donbass as the price of peace with Russia.
"If you're the party of Ronald Reagan, if you want to make America great again, then don't start the new Republican presidency by conceding victory to Vladimir Putin," Johnson said.
"It would be a disaster for the West and a disaster for America," he added./BGNES
