"The US is preparing a new aid package for Ukraine worth 2 billion dollars".
This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken during his visit to Kyiv, AFP reported.
The aid is part of a massive $60 billion package for Ukraine recently approved by the US Congress.
Blinken said the purpose of the aid was to "provide weapons today" as well as invest in Ukrainian infrastructure and help Ukraine buy military equipment from other countries.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba reiterated that Ukraine "urgently" needs 7 more air defense systems.
He also said that Ukraine needs faster supplies of weapons promised by allied countries.
Blinken announced that Ukraine can strike Russian territory with American weapons, but Washington does not encourage such attacks
"We have not encouraged strikes outside of Ukraine, but ultimately Ukraine has to decide for itself how to fight this war," Blinken said.
He added that Washington and Kiev will sign a bilateral security agreement in the coming weeks. /BGNES
