ABBA's Björn Ulvaeus has married his current girlfriend in a ceremony led by TV presenter Sandi Toksvig, the Guardian reports.
The 79-year-old Swedish singer, who has now been married twice, met Christina Sass in 2021 in Nuremberg, Germany, in conjunction with the release of ABBA's latest album Voyage.
A post on his Instagram page read, "In early 2016: 'Today, on September 21, 2024, Björn Ulvaeus married Christina Sass of Herning, Denmark. They met in Nuremberg in 2021 in conjunction with the release of ABBA's latest album Voyage and began dating in the spring of 2022.
"The wedding took place in Copenhagen in the presence of close friends and family. Sandy Toksvig, Anne Lynette and Kaja Brühl performed and made the evening extra special," the release reads.
Ulvaeus posted photos from the day, one of which shows former Great British Bake Off presenter Toksvig wearing a red robe. The presenter is standing next to Ulvaeus, dressed in a suit, and his wife, dressed in a delicate green dress.
Representatives of Ulvaeus confirmed to the PA news agency that Toksvig conducted the ceremony.
Ulvaeus is famous for being one quarter of the Swedish pop group ABBA, which this year celebrated 50 years since winning the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Waterloo".
The group originally consisted of two couples, Ulvaeus and Agneta Feltskog and Benny Andersson and Annie-Frid Lingstad. Feltskog and Ulvaeus, who married in 1971, divorced in 1980, and Andersson and Lyngstad divorced in 1981, one year before the band split. | BGNES
