US President Joe Biden will meet with US congressional leaders at the White House to discuss his request for budget aid for Ukraine, Israel and other national security measures. The meeting is scheduled for January 17.
"President Biden will host congressional leaders from the Senate and House, as well as key committee leaders and senior members, at the White House to discuss the critical importance of his additional national security request," said White House press secretary Karyn Jean- Pierre, quoted by The Hill.
According to her, the White House expects to hear a constructive position on this issue from senior American lawmakers representing both the Democratic and Republican parties.
Jean-Pierre emphasized that it is premature to talk about an agreement on the distribution of aid to Ukraine and Israel, but according to her, the White House and lawmakers "are moving in the right direction."
Since February 24, 2022, the United States has sent Ukraine military aid in the amount of about 44 billion dollars. On December 27, 2023, the administration of the President of the United States announced the latest military aid package approved by Congress in the amount of 250 million dollars. Debates are now taking place in the US Congress between Republicans and Democrats over further support for Ukraine. According to the White House, the US authorities are currently not developing new aid packages for Ukraine due to a lack of funds allocated for this purpose./BGNES
