The US president said the US would stop supplying Israel with artillery shells and other weapons if its armed forces entered Rafah.
"If Israeli forces enter Rafah, we will stop supplying them with artillery shells and other weapons."
US President Joe Biden stated this in an interview with CNN.
The threat to end the artillery supply comes after the US confirmed on May 7 that it had already halted the delivery of large bombs over fears of Israel's planned assault on Rafah.
"Civilians have been killed in Gaza as a result of these bombs and other ways in which Israel attacks populated areas," Biden said.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to enter Rafah as part of a campaign to eliminate Hamas. For once, Israel defied the objections of the US and the international community and sent tanks into Rafah, seizing the key border crossing with Egypt on May 7.
When asked about the actions of the Israeli forces in Rafah, Biden replied that "they did not enter the settlements." "What they've done is right on the border and right now it's causing problems for Egypt, with whom I've worked very hard to make sure we have a relationship and help," the head of state said.
He promised that Washington "will continue to make sure Israel is secure in terms of the Iron Dome and their ability to respond to attacks"./BGNES
