"Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries are ready to fully recognize Israel."
This was stated by US President Joe Biden during a charity evening, CNN reported.
He repeated his calls for a "post-Gaza plan" for Israel, including a "train towards a two-state solution".
The remarks reflect Biden's increased willingness to publicly call on Israel to increase its efforts to protect Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
"Now I'm not going to go into details. But look, I'm working with the Saudis and with all the other Arab countries, including Egypt and Jordan and Qatar. They are ready to fully recognize Israel, fully recognize Israel for the first time," the American head of state said.
"But there has to be a plan for the post-Gaza period and there has to be a train towards a two-state solution, it doesn't have to happen today, but there has to be progress and I think we can do that," he said.
The fundraiser, where Biden spoke with former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, was interrupted at least four times by protesters, at least three of whom called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
"That's good. Let them go. There are too many innocent victims, Israeli and Palestinian. We need to deliver more food and medicine, supplies to the Palestinians," the president said./BGNES
