US President Joe Biden called the collapse of the Baltimore bridge a "terrible accident" and vowed to restore work at the major East Coast port as soon as possible after a cargo ship hit one of the bridge's support pylons, AFP reported.
Biden said he would send "all federal resources" needed to deal with the incident, which happened in the early hours of the day. Authorities have reported that six people - construction workers repairing the Francis Scott Key Bridge - are missing.
"I'm ordering my team to move heaven and earth to reopen the port and rebuild the bridge as soon as possible," Biden said in a brief address from the White House, while acknowledging, "It's going to take some time." /BGNES
