Biden: Killing Haniya won't lead to Gaza truce

"The killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh will not help bring about a truce in the Gaza Strip."
This was stated by US President Joe Biden, The Economic Times reported.

Biden added that Haniya's assassination raised the risk of a wider escalation in the Middle East.

Iran said the killing happened hours after he attended the swearing-in ceremony of the country's new president.

"It doesn't help," the US president said when asked if Haniya's killing had ruined the chances of a ceasefire agreement.
He mentioned that on August 1 he had a direct conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu's government has yet to claim responsibility but has said Israel has dealt crushing blows to Iran's proxies in recent times, including Hamas and Hezbollah. | BGNES
