"Ukraine must urgently strengthen its air defenses in the face of incessant Russian attacks."
This was stated by German Foreign Minister Analena Berbock, who arrived on an unannounced visit to Kyiv, AFP reported.
"The situation in Ukraine has again deteriorated dramatically with massive Russian airstrikes against civilian infrastructure and a brutal Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region," Berbok said.
"To protect itself from the rain of Russian drones and missiles, Ukraine urgently needs strengthened air defenses. Our support is based on the deep conviction that Ukraine will win this war. Vladimir Putin believes that Ukraine and its allies will at some point run out of strength, she said, but we have the capacity to resist," the top diplomat added.
Last week, Zelensky warned that the Russian ground offensive that began this month in the eastern part of Kharkiv Oblast could be only the "first wave" and that Russian troops could move towards the city of Kharkiv, Ukraine's second largest.
The Ukrainian president has repeatedly called on Ukraine's allies to provide at least 7 more air defense systems, including at least two to protect the Hrkiv region./BGNES
